Eagles Nest at Platte Valley is unique in that we are indeed Colorado's first aviation-themed assisted living community. We certainly welcome guests from all backgrounds, though we do have our warm environment furnished in a style reflective of avaition activity from the 1940's.

We offer a unique alternative from the standard assisted living facility. By definition, assisted living is a long-term care alternative for seniors who need more assistance that is available in a standard retirement community, but who do not require the heavy medical and nursing care provided in a traditional nursing facility. According to the National Center for Assisted Living, "Many seniors relocate to an assisted living residence after a period of rehabilitation in a nursing home or hospital. However, many seniors come to an assisted living facility right from their own homes."

Assisted living communities are designed to be operated, staffed and maintained to best meet the needs and desires of their residents. Security and independence, privacy and companionship, as well as physical and social well being are the primary characteristics of an assisted living setting. However, there is one characteristic missing in many of today's assisted living homes. Simply stated, the missing element is being able to share common life experiences among residents. We believe it is important to have an environment that promotes guests sharing their career history, hobbies and common day-to-day interests.

Eagles Nest at Platte Valley is specifically designed to draw our residents together--to provide them with an active environment in an engaging, community-of-sharing atmosphere. We realize that frequently seniors new to the assisted living environment struggle with establishing new friends and sometimes initially shy away from becoming involved in new activities. Our staff is particularly focused on these issues, and we believe our unique aviation-themed setting is key to having our residents active throughout their day.

We are a proud member of the Colorado Assisted Living Association. Additionally, our Administrative Assistant, Terri Velasquez, is on the board of the Colorado Assisted Living Association!
